Not Mahrez – £42.2million Star Ready To Agree Arsenal Move, The Fans Will Like This

With the new English football season starting in just 14 days, Arsenal are still yet to bring in the very much needed striker. However, reports claim Arsenal may be set to complete a £42.2 million deal to sign Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette has scored 48 goals in the last two seasons, which is more than what Giroud, Welbeck and Sanchez have scored combined in the last two campaigns for Arsenal in all competitions. Having failed in their attempt to sign Jamie Vardy and Higuain and with Morata choosing to remain at Real Madrid, Arsenal have very little margin for a error in the transfer window.

Having failed with a £29 million bid for Lacazette, reports today claim Arsenal will go back to new with a new £42.2 million ($56 million) bid which Arsenal believe will be enough to convince the French club to sell the player. The good thing is, according to the reports, Lacazette is keenly interested in playing for Arsenal under Wenger.

Lacazette scored 27 goals in the French league for Lyon last season, second only behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was playing for a PSG team with a much better supply line. Although PSG have also been linked with the signing of the 25-year-old, newer reports claim PSG have pulled out of the race, as they do not want to pay Lyon's £42.2 million asking price. PSG are instead reportedly working on signing Jese Rodriguez from PSG.

This report, if true, gives Arsenal a big advantage as monopolising interest means Arsenal do not stand the risk of losing the player to other clubs. The fact that Lacazette can play with or without Giroud makes his signing an even more interesting propspect for Arsenal.

Signing Lacezette, a centre back and Mahrez will make a lot of sense for Arsenal. The signing of the trio, if it happens, will make Arsenal real title contenders in the Premier League once again. But will Wenger do it? It is doubtful, but maybe he is now a changed man? Maybe, just maybe.

  1. A very sensible article but will AW be sensible? no way! that man will never have the sense to see that we're falling well behind the other clubs, and will surely become also rans
at the end of the season.

Be sensible Arsene get your head out of the sand and have the sense to pay the money clubs expect for these players they're not all named Pogba, otherwise I fear for the future of our once great club.
