Arsenal primary choice attacker revealed - Gunners will love this

According to the reports from the London EveningStandard via the BBC, the Arsenal manager has revealed that Olivier Giroud will be his primary choice to lead Arsenal’s attack next season notwithstanding the inconsistency the French international has shown this season.

The 29-year-old forward has come under has been under a lot of intense criticism from the fans who had demanded for his removal as the club main striker.

The Premier League back of the net has proved very difficult for the France international to find, as his equalizing goal against Manchester City and his hat-trick goal against the already relegated Aston Villa are the only goal he has scored in his last 15 league games for the Gunners. The 29-year-old ended a frustrating season netting in total only 4-goals.

Arsenal failed attempt to win the title has also been blamed, comparatively, on his goal drought. In the face of this, he has 16 league goals to his credit, still making the club’s top scorer.

He was linked with the German club side, Wolfburg but the France international still remains an integral part of Wenger’s plans for the next coming season.

Wenger has also restated that a new striker will be brought to bolster the attack as Danny Welbeck’s drawn-out spell on the sidelines, which will be keeping the England international out for nine months.

When BBC asked the Frenchman if Giroud would be Arsenal first choice for next season, Wenger replied “yes.”

“I believe that Danny Welbeck being out now for a long, long time we will be on the road to look for one more striker”

“After that it's down to compete. Olivier has strong and weak moments so we have to deal with that.

"He is a bit unbelievable - he is in cycles. He scores in spells and then sometimes he scores less,” the manager added.

The Gunners are reportedly to be linked with Juventus Alvaro Morata and Inter Milan Mauro Icardi.

Giroud has scored 72 goals in 121 starts, plus 37 appearances from the bench in all his competitions since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium for £12m from Montpellier in June 2012.
