Arsene Wenger has truly worked miracles getting a mediocre side to the dizzy heights of 4th and Champions League qualification. A net spend of £9m over 10 years shows we've been operating a shoestring.
Perhaps, it will end this summer and we will spend big. I suspect not.
Wenger said he will strengthen, but not by overspending. I think we've been underspending for years now, but the boss can claim he had no choice. That excuse has now run out with £70m plus in our transfer kitty.
The first one to replace is Bacary Sagna. He's a good player, but he looks like he's head is elsewhere, so we might as well let him join PSG, if that's what he wants to do. Carl Jenkinson looks ready to step up, but we do need another right back to add to the squad. Somebody like a right-footed version of Nacho Monreal.
I'd also like us to bring in someone to replace Tomas Rosicky. He played well against Newcastle, but not amazingly well. We need someone who actually tracks back and can play a final ball for our forwards to latch onto. Rosicky often flatters to deceive, but a lot of fans are deceived, I think.
A new goalkeeper wouldn't go amiss. Fabianski and Szczesny have both performed well in the run-in, but that doesn't mean they don't need someone pushing them for the number one spot.
And some people say we need a new striker. I say why don't we try Theo Walcott there? Arsenal legend Ian Wright agrees with me.
