End Of Walcott? Arsenal Table Official Bid For Key Chelsea Target - Not Mahrez

According to reports, Chile international attacker Alexis Sanchez has called on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign Barcelona outcast Arda Turan.

Reports from Spanish media outlet Don Balon indicate that Sanchez wants the former Atletico Madrid midfielder at Arsenal, as he believes the Barcelona outcast would be the right peg in the right hole at the north London club.

Turkish international Arda Turan is reportedly set to depart the Nou Camp this summer transfer window, having failed to break into the first team since his much publicized transfer from Spain's capital city club Atletico Madrid last year.

Don Balon further revealed that the Barcelona outcast, who is admired by Sanchez and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has had a bid lodged for his services by the Gunners.

London rivals Chelsea are also believed to be interested in the player, but now face a transfer battle with Arsenal, who can offer the player Champions League football next season.

Reports indicate that the north London club is set to pay a fee of about £20m for the Barcelona midfielder, but the Catalan club will prefer a fee of about £35m, which is what they paid for his services last year.

Hopefully this report is true. Turan will surely be an upgrade on Theo Walcott who, in my opinion, should be sold this summer. It is time we finally agree that Theo Walcott won't become the player we all thought he would become and let him go.

For a player that earns £140,000 a week, Walcott delivers too little and considering Barca are unlikely to be paying Turan as much as £140,000 a week, signing the former Atletico Madrid player will make a lot of sense. His versatility will mean he will be useful in a number of positions. Even if he is not a first-team regular, he could be used for tactical reasons or fill in when there are injuries.
