After seeing second-placed Man City close the gap at the top to five points with a 4-1 demolition of Liverpool, Arsenal needed to at least match the result. Instead, the Gunners matched the score line.
However, the performance was a bit sloppy, especially in the first half and, of course, they couldn't keep a clean sheet.
Thankfully, Martinell crossed early after the break for White to score against his former team at the far post.
Jesus's second goal ended the game as a contest, after a clever assist from Trossard.
Leeds pulled a goal back, but Xhaka's header from a sublime Odegaard cross from deep restored Arsenal three-goal advantage.
Saka came on from the bench, but looked out of sorts by his standards, which is understandable given his apparent illness.
Other subs entered the fray, Jorginho replacing Partey, Smith-Rowe taking Jesus's place, Vieira and Tierney ending Odegaard Zinchenko's involvement.
Overall, Arsenal will reflect on a job well done despite the sluggish performance after the international break.
