What a difference a year makes! In August 2021, the Gunners were nursing their wounds after three consecutive defeats and, this year, it's the total opposite.
Knocking Spurs off the top of the league will please the fans, especially as crowd-favourite Saliba scored his first goal for the club, and what a peach it was! Xhaka picked out the Frenchman with a cooly placed pass and Saliba made no mistake with his left-footed curler.
It was almost 4-0, when Jesus lifted the ball over the keeper only to have it ruled out for a controversial and blurry offside. Once again, it seems as if VAR is there to keep Arsenal's goal tally down. It was reminiscent of Martinelli's goal last season, when VAR took about 7 minutes to rule his goal with hazy proof. Nothing has changed, it seems.
Martinelli seemed desperate for a goal, but it wasn't to be.
Nevertheless, it was all smiles for Arsenal, after a job well done.
Ramsdale 6 - a moment of madness with a poor kick out
White 7 - relatively untroubled
Saliba 9 - wonder goal
Gabriel 8 - good blocking
Zinchenko 7 - quiet
Saka 7 - not quite as scintillating
Odegaard 7 - solid
Partey 6 - gave away a silly free kick
Xhaka 7 - gifted the opponents a chance, but set up a goal
Martinelli 7 - close to scoring, but maybe a bit too greedy
Jesus 7 - great goal rules out unfairly.
