Leicester City fans won't like this, Riyad Mahrez has once agains rejected contract offer from Leicester City and is reportedly ready to leave the King Power stadium this summer. According to Get French football, the Algerian contrary to reports hasn't agreed a new contract with Leicester City and isn't going to be signing one.
Music in the ears of all Arsenal fans. Arsenal have constantly been linked with the signing of the Algerian with reports this week claiming the PFA player of the year has agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of a summer move. Wenger himself practically confirmed the deal is immininent while talking to a beIN Sport journalist on Sunday morning.
Get French football who themselves are citing France football as source claim the player is not interested in Leicester City's financial package as he is more interested in a team with an establish style of play, not kick and run style of football Leicester City plays. Ouch. Nice punchline.
This is certainly good news for Arsenal. Our style of play will suit Mahrez and although Ranieri keeps saying the player will stay at Leicester beyond the transfer window, I personally believe it is a matter of when and not if the player will leave Leicester. However, with Chelsea also interested, Arsenal may stand the risk of losing out on his signing.

Chelsea will however only need him if Hazard leaves which is possible but not likely till towards the end of the transfer window as if Madrid loses out on the signing of Paul Pogba, they will want a marquee signing, something Hazard represents.
But if reports claiming Arsenal have been in talks with the player is anything to go by, then we probably have given ourselves the advantage in the race for his signature. Imagine having Lacazette, Mahrez, Ozil and Sanchez in the same team. That is a title winning side.

chelsea have hazard, willian, oscar, pedro, fabregas, traore. playing time will be hard to come by.
ReplyDeleteReal madrid will not spend 50-60 million on hazard for him to sit on the bench. Benzema Bale Ronaldo are the starting three with Morata isco , james, and vasquez behind them.
Arsenal on the other hand lack a productive winger to compliment alexis. the fact that they had to use ramsey in that position for large portions of last season is proof
Umm, that would be an incredibly insightful piece of amateur journalism, if it were not for the fact that Mahrez has not turned down "another" contract offer from Leicester City and is actually still discussing the first offer which was put to the players representatives at the weekend (two days ago).
ReplyDeleteYour increasingly childish efforts to create a story from thin air rival those created by that bastion of reporting, the Sunday Sport. Your blog thing may keep you occupied while your mum cooks your tea, but it's starting to become laughable, why not wait until something real happens and then report it as first hand fact, like the rest of your contemporaries do?
2/10 for effort, you mug.
