In a news bulletin that Arsenal fans the world over will surely be happy with, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told beIN SPORTS he has an interest in signing Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez. Wenger was at the Leicester City versus PSG match, which fuelled the speculation that Mahrez could be on his way to Arsenal.
Although Wenger hasn't confirmed if a bid has been put in for the Algerian, the fact that he has confirmed Arsenal's interest in the African is quite interesting. Wenger of old will never reveal his interest in a player unless he knows a deal is close to be agreed or sure to be agreed.
If the deal is not close, could it then be that Wenger is deliberately trying to put pressure on Mahrez, the current PFA Player of the Year, to force a move? Leicester, obviously do not want to sell, although from all indications the player is ready to leave the King Power Stadium this summer, having rejected their contract offer.
Interestingly, Claudio Ranieri, who has always maintained he is 100% sure Mahrez will remain at Leicester City, yesterday all of sudden confirmed Mahrez has been "distracted" by the constant speculation around his future. If Mahrez is certainly staying at Leicester City, why is he now all of sudden being distracted by the rumours. How can one be distracted about something that they are not thinking of/about?
Signing Mahrez will be a masterstroke for Arsenal and, in my opinion, the deal is very possible. It is all dependent on if Wenger will finally accept the fact that the market is inflated and pay what is needed. And to be honest, it is high time Arsenal and Wenger accepted the fact that the transfer market is inflated. It is stupid and arrogant for Arsenal to want to decide the prices unilaterally. In the transfer market that exists in the summer window, market factors and not the buyer determine the prices.
Arsenal can't continue to expect to determine the price they pay for players. It is, in my opinion, hypocrisy, especially as the same Arsenal hasn't rejected the TV money that has caused the inflation in the transfer market.
Once againn a nothing article
ReplyDeleteSo convenient for Leicester City fans to ignore the fact that Ranieri has all of a sudden changed his stance right?
DeleteLet me ask you, why will Mahrez be distraced if he is 100% convinced he wants to stay at Leicester?
Why would mahrez leave leicester for arsenal, we have champions league for the 1st time. He knows he will be played every game if all goes well at Leicester even if his form dips. If he did go arsenal and his form wasn't 100% after the 1st few games what's saying he wouldn't be sat warming the bench. All this is aimed at is an improved wage, he wants the same as vardy and who can blame him
ReplyDeleteYou honestly believe footballers think this way? Did Fabregas also know he had no chance before he went to Barca? Isco at Madrid?
DeleteIf you have ever played football before, you will realise what a footballer feels. Plus Mahrez will see Walcott and Chamberlain as his competitors and lick his lips because beating them will be easy pie. No disrespect to Ox and Walcott but fact is fact.
Arsenal fans getting excited again. It's just like the vardy situation. Expect mahrez come out in a few weeks and say he was winding the gooners up. Love it
ReplyDeleteWe shall see to that.
DeleteHis wife is pregnant and she has told him he isn't moving yet he will tear europe a new one this season then off to a big club like Barcelona and not a club happy to finish 4th and get knocked out of the champions league at the last 16 every season
ReplyDeleteWhere are you reading this from?
DeleteI know one of his family really well he will sign a new contract they are just sorting out the numbers and clauses like vardy thats why his took a wile to sort out and announce

It is so painful to be an Arsenal supporter. You never know what to expect. I was really sure that we were to win last season's league. Wenger really does not care about his supporters feelings...
ReplyDeleteWe have been here before so many times it makes my head spin.Arsenal linked to half the good players in the world then end up signing none.A wonder we got Granit but I am sure that's all.We will park a container of bottled water by Arsene during each match for him to smash.Do something Wenger before something do you.
ReplyDeleteAS wont buy any striker, mark my word, Theo and Giroud will strike for Arsenal next season
