Arsenal To Complete Transfer Of £10m-Rated Star Within 48 Hours - Reports

According to Football Italia, Italian Serie A club AS Roma are on the verge of completing a season-long loan move for Arsenal and Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

All through the summer, it was reported across various media that the agent of the Poland international shot-stopper had been in talks with AS Roma over a loan move back to the capital city club. The goalkeeper is reportedly happy to rejoin the Serie A club, but is keen on a return to the Emirates stadium sometime in the future to fight for a place.

The 26-year-old goal tender, who spent last term on loan with the Italian capital city club, had a brilliant season after a difficult spell at the Emirates, where he lost his place to Colombia international goal keeper David Ospina, before Arsene Wenger signed former Chelsea goal keeper Petr Cech for £10m.

The Colombian proved his quality once again following his decent performances at the Copa America in the USA, but he will have to continue to perform heroics to force the Czech Republic international goalkeeper out of the reckoning for first-team duty. And unless the Colombian leaves for the Turkish league, as touted, then it's unlikely Szczesny will get any regular playing time.

The Pole will also have to battle with new signing Alisson for a place in between the sticks at Roma next summer, so a tough challenge awaits Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny no matter what he decides to do.

Personally, I believe letting Szczesny remain at Roma will make sense. He doesn't appear to me to have learnt from his lessons and if the Italians want him they can have him. He is never going to dislodge Petr Cech from the first team and although he is much more talented than David Ospina, he doesn't have the level headedness needed to succeed at a club such as Arsenal.

  1. When Wenger got Cech everyone one thought it was the final piece in the jigsaw puzzle.
Alas it was not to be.As for the Polish stopper ,I have my doubts about him.Suffice to say if Wenger cant ge Arsenal going,
irrespective of whether he has bought big/small,he should leave asap.
