Alexander Lacazette To Become A Gunner As Lyon Agree To Sell - Reports

If there is one position all Arsenal fans the world over are keen on seeing Wenger bolster before the end of the transfer window, it is the striker position. Arsenal have been in need of a striker since Robin van Persie was sold to Manchester United in 2012.

We have since been linked with the signing of many strikers, but unfortunately we have not succeeded in signing anyone in the "world class" range. There have been links to Higuain, Benzema, Suarez, Aubameyang and many others. Our inability to get the type of striker that will push us to Premier League triumph is due mainly to the dearth of strikers in world football at the moment, coupled with our unwillingness to pay the going rate in the transfer market.

But if you believe TalkSport, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Alexander Lacazette, as Lyon have finally agreed to sell the Frenchman. Arsenal had an initial £29m bid for Lacazette rejected, but it is widely believed that Wenger will go back with a bigger offer and, according to TalkSport, should the new bid meet Lyon's expectation, they will allow the player to leave.

This is contrary to owner Jean-Michael Aulas' initial stance that the 25-year-old striker will not be sold. And should TalkSport be right, this will be good news for Arsenal fans the world over. Lacazette is practically the only reliable and available striker Arsenal can still sign this summer.

With PSG reportedly interested in signing Lacazette, unless any other club enters the race for the player at the last minute, Arsenal almost have a monopoly of interest in the Frenchman. Additionally, with Lacazette himself reportedly keen on leaving Lyon for a bigger club this summer, the French club have two choices: sell the player now and bring in a replacement or risk the consequences of keeping an unhappy player disrupt the unity in their squad.

The ball is now firmly in our court and whether we sign Lacazette or not depends on if Wenger sees value in the player in the 45 million Lyon are reportedly demanding. However, it will be madness if we end up not signing him.

The earlier we accept the fact that the transfer market is massively inflated, the sooner we can make moves to improve our squad. Once we can do that, it will change the situation for the better at this club.
