5-Year Deal Agreed, World Cup Winner On Plane To London To Sign For Arsenal

With Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Assano all already signed by Arsenal this summer, Arsenal have been linked with the signing of various other players and, if reports from Nigeria are to be believed, the Gunners are set to announce that another major transfer deal is done and dusted.

According to Allnigeriasoccer.com, FIFA Under 17 World Cup winner Kelechi Nwakali will board a plane by 11pm today for London, where he will complete his long-awaited transfer to Arsenal. The 18-year-old midfielder, who captained his country as they won the last FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Chile confirmed, two months ago, that he had signed for Arsenal.

He released pictures of himself and Arsenal officials to prove his claim, but Arsenal are yet to make an official announcement on the deal.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will be able to get a work permit for the Nigerian, but there is the option of sending him on loan should the application for a work permit fail. Should he be successful in his application for a work permit, he will be expected to play with Arsenal Under 21s from where he might be able to claim a first-team place.

If his rich vein of form, however, continues after his stellar performances from the last Under 17 World Cup, it will not be long before the Nigerian is playing for Arsenal's first team. Having seen him play for Nigeria at the Under 17 World Cup and having followed him at Under 20 level, I can tell you he has what it takes to be Arsenal's new Patrick Vieira, if he keeps his head and obey his coaches' instructions.
